This programme will research and focus on understanding developments in the African region and analysing various hotspots like Egypt, Libya, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Central African region (CAR) etc. It also focuses on bilateral, regional as well as multilateral engagements between Africa and other countries.
The Asia Programme at CGSRS will focus on Asia and will research and explore the important political, economic and social developments affecting Asia including Afghanistan, China, India, Pakistan and the South Asian subcontinent along with Japan, the Korean peninsula and Southeast Asia. Key issues include the rise of China as an economic and political power, the South China Sea dispute, and U.S. foreign policy in the region.
This programme will look at European involvement and position in the global and regional levels with special focus on the security and defence policies of European countries like UK, Germany, France and the efforts of major multilateral institutions such as NATO and the EU. Key issues include EU relations with Russia, EU foreign policy, migration, the role of Germany as a global player, the future of Greece, and UK membership to the EU.
The Global Programme focuses on a range of issues affecting the dynamic topic that Is international politics and affairs. Areas of focus will include issues that affect not only states or regions, but global affairs. The programme also focuses on the security and foreign policies of Russia as well as of the other states of post-Soviet republics. Russia is still politically, diplomatically and militarily important in world politics.
The Middle East Programme will cover issues and developments in the countries of the region like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria, Libya, Israel, and Yemen which are undergoing rapid political transformation impacting the political and security situation of the region and beyond. Key issues include the Syrian conflict, the war against the Islamic State (IS), Iran nuclear programme, Iran-Saudi relations, Israel/Palestine conflict, and U.S./Russian foreign policy in the region. The programme will follow closely the internal political developments as well as the regional political scenario of the above countries.
The North American Programme will be dedicated to the study and research of mainly the domestic and foreign policies of the United States. It will primarily focus on studying and analysing the US Strategic Partnership and US foreign policy towards rest of the world. Key issues include U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, and U.S. relations with Russia and China.
